Poker Stars Review
![]() |
PokerStars.com has developed a phenomenal success rate over the past few years and rightly so. The company is one of the oldest poker rooms online to date with initial launching back in 2001. What has made them one of the most prominent poker rooms in online history can be attributed to the high quality of gaming they provide their customers, top level support, and games that are top of the class. They provide a poker room that fits every type of player, from the high roller semi pro to the beginner who is sitting in his first tournament. Poker Star is a fully licensed and regulated room with financial security that is second to none.
Poker Stars offers all new players a 100% match up to $50 payable in increments of $10 through point accumulation. Compared to some online rooms and large networks this is a very low bonus, but something every online player should be looking at is what the room has to offer. Although Poker Stars bonus is low for industry standards your experience and quality you will experience will never be less than optimal.
Competition at this room comes in varying degrees of skill. Due to the massive player base which is seen as a positive, you will find a complete mix of inexperienced to highly skilled players. Obviously the micro low limit tables provide some loose action, but that should not be taken for granted. When I first moved over to the Poker Stars client from other well known networks the very first impression I was given was it’s a whole new game.
Ring tables are one of the features here that make Poker stars so popular. With a line up consisting of not only the traditional variety but adding to it with such games as 2-7 Triple Lowball, HORSE, and Razz it is obvious Poker Stars is built for diversity. Each of the games come in shorthanded, full table and heads up and contain a significant player base to make them very worthwhile. The room respectively sees on average (number) players during peak hours throughout all games. That is one of the benefits of playing at Poker stars…the room is never quiet. Rake is taken at an industry standard of 5% with a cap of $3. Poker Stars supports the no flop no drop rule, meaning if there is no flop seen, than no rake will be taken and all funds will be sent to the winner.
Poker Stars is well known for their ever popular, Sunday Millions, where players literally play out a tournament with a guaranteed prize of $1,000,000. These clearly provide one of the largest overlays you will find anywhere on the net, with the winner walking away with over $240,000 each and every week. Not bad for a $215 buy-in or $15 satellite. Poker Stars tournaments are presented in all the variations that are featured in the ring games. Players can find games giving away seats to large events like the WSOP, WPT or Poker Stars infamous WCOOP. If you’re not a tournament player, don’t fret SNG’s are just as popular and well visited. Not only are you able to play in a full table game, but offered up are shorthanded, HU, HU MTT each in turbo format as well as your standard 10 min intervals. Playing in Poker Stars tournaments enables you a shot at the leader board, where once a week one lucky player can battle it out in a heads up match against a Team Poker Stars pro like Chris Money maker, Joe Hachem or even Daniel Negreanu.
The software is on its own network which means you will never be sharing a player base, it is clear smooth and very fast. Poker Stars updates on a regular basis with downtime basically non-existent.
Once you have downloaded Poker Stars and registered for an account, you will notice that the lobby has an exceptionally easy navigation, allowing you full access to tournament lobby and ring lobby. All your necessary functions and features are available within clear view including- pre-flop stats, average hands per hour (which can run in and around 110/hr) and average pot size. The tables are nicely styled with custom avatars’ and backgrounds you can choose on your own. The one aspect of this room that I really like is the speed, and even though the room is equipped with some great features you will never worry about it slowing down your computer.
Considering how large www.poker stars.net is the support team they have staffed themselves with superseded anyone else by a long shot. The room only offers email which is available 24/7 however they are one of the fastest rooms to handle enquiries. A few other rooms we all know could take a lesson from this company when it comes down to a dedicated team of professionals.
Deposit Methods; VISA (Delta, Electron, Gift and Prepaid), MasterCard (Gift and Prepaid), NETeller, Fire Pay, e-Checks, Central Coin, Diners Club International, ePassporte, Solo/Maestro/Switch, cashier’s check/money order/bank draft (minimum deposit of $100).
Well, that’s the end of the review for poker stars. Check them out for yourself.
